Mikus Kins has many years of sales and client service experience, which he utilizes to your advantage. He received an MBA in Finance/Investment Management with minors in Real Estate and International Business from The Fisher College of Business at Ohio State University where he received the faculty award as the top graduating student in the program as well as being a member of multiple honor societies. Mikus earned his Bachelors degrees in International Relations and History from Brown University.
Mikus uses this expertise to oversee a team that specializes in assisting clients with buying, selling or investing in premium properties throughout Chicago-land. As a long time sales executive, Mikus is able to naturally employ a consultative sales approach when working with his clients by first understanding their specific needs and then by working with them to implement a personalized and focused solution. In addition, Mikus is able to rely upon his years of financial services expertise to further customize his solutions using financial analysis, which provides clients with the ability to make data driven decisions. From CAP rate analysis to pro-forma and rent roll analysis, Mikus can assist.
Prior to joining Berkshire Hathaway, Mikus was an Executive Vice President at RMX Property, providing research, analysis, consulting and brokerage services. As a founding Executive at RMX Property, Mikus served a large portfolio of client’s focusing on commercial real estate development projects and multi-unit investment opportunities. Prior to RMX Property, Mikus had a long career as a capital markets expert with extensive experience in both domestic and international financial markets.
Mikus has held senior management positions with some of the largest global financial institutions including: Bank of America Merrill Lynch, LaSalle Bank and ABN/AMRO. In his business development roles he oversaw the Global Securities Solutions Division for Bank of America Merrill Lynch in London and provided a wide range of trust and administration services for a book of securitized products including Commercial and Residential Mortgage Backed Securities. In another role, Mikus also helped to develop and launch a revolutionary risk-monitoring product for managers, banks and high net worth alternative investors that serviced over 200 funds and $8.5 billion in investments.
Mikus’ current philanthropic efforts include serving on the Alumni Board for Francis. W Parker School of Chicago and serving as a Board Member on the Chicago Association of Realtors Global Real Estate Council. Mikus has also been appointed by Illinois Realtors as the Liaison to the Consulate General of the Republic of Lithuania in Chicago. In addition, Mikus is the Founder and President of the Latvian American Chamber of Commerce of Chicago.
Although Mikus was born and raised in the Lincoln Park neighborhood of Chicago, he is a dual United States and European Union citizen. Mikus and his family currently live in the Bucktown area of Chicago.
